Hat-trick for Prathima; Karthik men’s champ: Tabebuia Open Wheelchair tennis

Bengaluru, 9 Dec 2018: Prathima N Rao made it a hat-trick winning the Tabebuia Open Wheelchair Tennis tournament while giant-killer Karthik K won the men’s singles title in the third edition of the all-India AITA-ranking meet organised by Indian Wheelchair Tennis Tour at the KSLTA Stadium here on Sunday.

Karthik continued his winning run to defeat second seeded Balachander S to lift the Cup while Prathima overcame her doubles partner Shilpa KP again to win the women’s crown for the thid year running. In the men’s doubles, Shekar Veeraswamy paired with Balachandar to beat Karthik and D Mariappan. Earleir in quarters, Karthik beat Shekar, the top seed and now accounted for his coach Balachander, who said he is happy for his student. Yesteryear star and Indian coach Zeeshan Ali and software accessibility advocate Srinivasu Chakravarthulu of sponsor Informatica gave away the prizes.
