Hockey Haryana triumphs against Hockey Odisha with 7 – 3

Bengaluru, 20 September 2018: Hockey Haryana notched up a fine 7-3 victory against Hockey Odisha here today at the ongoing 3rd Hockey India 5-a-side Senior National Championship 2018 (Men). While both teams were on par with each other in the first half, with scores tied at 3-3 at half-time, Hockey Haryana held sway in the second half that saw them score four goals to end the match with winners points. For Hockey Haryana, goals were scored by Bharat (3′, 16′, 17′), Gagandeep Singh (5′), Pardeep Mor (7′), Manpreet (11′), Shivdeep (18′) and for Hockey Odisha, Tikei Kujur (3′), Teophil Kujur (6′, 10′) scored goals.

In the second match of the day, Hockey Maharashtra secured an nervy 4-3 victory over Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu. Amit Gowda (5′) and Sayyad Niyaz Rahim (8′) scored early goals to put Hockey Maharashtra in 2-0 lead at half-time but Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu upped their ante in the second half with N Sethil (15′), RS Sunil Murthy (16′) and Senthil Krishnan (19′) scoring important goals but Sayyad Niyaz Rahim completed a hat-trick with goals in the 16th and 19th minute to steer Hockey Maharashtra to a win. 
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Hockey registered a comfortable 7-3 win against Hockey Jharkhand in the third match of the day. Raj Kumar Pal starred for Uttar Pradesh hockey as he scored four goals in the 7th, 8th, 13th and 20th minutes while his compatriots Anand Sourabh (3′), Vishal Singh (13′), Ajay Yadav (19′) scored a goal each. For Hockey Jharkhand, Jen Soreng (2′, 14′) scored twice and Noyel Topno (19′) scored a goal. 
In the last match of the day, Hockey Karnataka beat Hockey Punjab 4-1 in a hard-fought match. The home team dominated with a good start as early goals came by through Abharan Sudev (4′) and Likith MB (7′). Though Satbir Singh of Hockey Punjab scored in the 13th minute, Abharan (15′,20′) was exceptional as he completed a hat-trick of goals by scoring a double in he second half even as the team’s defence held strong.
